Snow days call for some creative thinking

When we got the word on Monday morning that the buses were cancelled, and we would have both kids all day, I had to scramble to come up with ideas to keep them both busy all day.

I quickly went downstairs and hunted up my "Mary Poppins" bag, and my craft box.  Both were full of emergency supplies for such a time as this.  The first item I came across was this old box that belongs/belonged to Auntie Ally.
It's in pretty good shape for a box that is about 20 years old.
Inside the box was Auntie Ally's pencil collection.  Hundreds and hundred of pencils.
We spread them out on the table...
...and inspected each one.
Each munchkin got to chose just one to sharpen and use that day.  Thanks Auntie Ally
We also found Auntie Ally's old crayon collection, which was in remarkably good condition.  Hardly any missing at all.
These treasures kept us entertained for quite awhile.  More pics to follow tomorrow.

We will remember and appreciate days like this -- at least you will remember.
