Takin' a break

AC and I have been knocked flat by a dastardly spring cold. Cough, hack, sniffle, groan! We thought we would dodge this bullet because we have been taking Cold FX for the past couple of months. Nope! I woke up Sunday morning with an excruciatingly sore throat and it has been all down hill since then.

I'll check back in when I can stop coughing long enough to post a picture or two.

Roll Play

The girl is growing up so fast and seems to make huge strides everyday. The other day I could hear her singing "My Bonnie lies over the ocean". I went into her bedroom, and she was putting Rosie, her pink bear, to sleep. She had already read her a story, then sang a song that we often sing to her at bedtime...
and by the time I got there with the camera she was covering Rosie up for snugly nap.

Makes my smile...

This little guy makes me smile every day. I just never know what I am going to see when I look up from a task. The other day I was sitting down working on a crossword puzzle when I heard JJ making "Meep, meep, meep" noises. I looked up and saw him walking past me like this. Saying " Meep, Meep! I am a robot. I am a robot. I am a robot."
On another morning I was getting their clothes set out for the day when I looked across the room and saw JJ standing at the toy box looking like this. He had already gotten himself dressed for the day and was ready to roll.
After an examination of the toy box, he got on his car and zoomed off on an adventure.
Yes, he makes me smile.

Soakin' it in!

While JJ had his nap the other day Smudge and Amma found a sunny spot on the side deck for our story time.
We were soakin' in the sunshine and the hugs. Total fun!

The Party

The Princess was all crowned and ready to party when we arrived for the festivities.
She was happy to show Buppa how old she was.
Then it was time to open some presents.

She actually took time to open the cards this year...
before she got into the gifts.

Amma was called on to help with some of the ribbons and bows...
and JJ helped too.
Smudge is really into princesses right now, so many cards and gifts followed that theme. Below we see her with a new blanket for her bed.
Amma was crowned during the party, and JJ thought that was just fine.
The Birthday Girl thought Buppa needed a crown too, so she set to the task of making him a very unique one.
Soon it was time for cake.
What fun to light the candles and sing...
then blow the candles out. Little brother was a big help with that job.
After cake it was back to the important job of...
playing with some new presents.

Bubbles

Ah, a sure sign of spring - kids and bubbles.
On this cool but sunny day, Smudge and JJ had lots of fun sending multitudinous soapy orbs skyward. I think some of them might have made it all the way to Montreal with Get Well wishes for Grandmama, who fell and broke her arm. Poor Grandmama - Get well soon!

Tables and Cupboards

While Sister engages in the more conventional use of tables...
Brother likes to get a whole new perspective of the world from tables...
and cupboards.

Welcome activity

Ahhhhh, at last. It was sunny and warm enough to have snack-time outside one day last week.
Now that we can get outside to do activities on the play table, Buppa bought finger-paint for them to dabble in. That should be a fun but messy, messy, messy adventure.

Where's the fire?

When I was walking down the hall the other day I heard a strange noise coming from the kid's bedroom so went to investigate. This is the sight that greeted me.
I asked Smudge what they were doing, and she said they were firemen riding their firetruck down the road to fight a fire. Her right hand was in the air and she was pulling down on an imaginary cord while making a "whoo0000oooo00000oooo" sound the fire truck makes. JJ followed along in suit.

They had their firemen hats firmly placed on their heads and were ready to save the day. I ran for my camera.

Blame it on Lorna...

Yes, it is all Lorna's fault! After reading her blog here, I went in search of Fit-flops and found these sparkly...
heavenly comfy, gems.
The black and silver sequined ones shown on her blog were my second choice, but these gray ones won my vote today. Bring on the warm weather, I'm ready!

Tiara Day

Crafts with Buppa

Who knew that Buppa would turn into the crafty Grandpa? Certainly not me! Everyday he tucks a new craft into his backpack, and Smudge can hardly wait to get into it to see what fun thing he has for her to do that day. Usually she and Buppa work on a craft while JJ has his afternoon nap, but sometimes Little Brother gets in on the fun too.
JJ thinks that snipping paper with his handy dandy toddler scissors is fun, fun, fun. He made lots of fringe on this particular day.
Smudge had a blast with the scissors too.
I find it interesting to see how they both are holding the scissors.

Morning concert

It's always nice to start the day with a song, and with these two around, that's usually what happens. Oh joy!

This is the sight that greeted me the other morning when I walked into JJ's bedroom. Smudge was doing the vocals and guitar, while JJ played the rhythm sticks.

Clicky-clack

When I asked the Smudgster what she wanted to wear the other day she said "a beautiful dress" and picked this favorite one out of her closet. She then asked for poodle ears in her hair, and once they were firmly in place, she went on a hunt for fancy shoes.
JJ asked for a pony tail in his hair too, and also wanted to wear shoes that went clickety-clack on the hardwood floors. He wore the purple ones with flowers and Smudgster pranced around in the pink ones with jewels.
Amma made them stop and pose for a picture, then they went happily on their way, clickety-clacking up and down the hall.

Cool dudes heading out to play

The snow is almost all gone in our neck of the woods, but cold winds rule the day, and soggy grass is everywhere so I had to suit the kids up in warm waterproof attire for a play time in the back yard the other day.
It was a very bright day though, so sunglasses were needed.
I was surprised that they kept their glasses on for as long as they did.
Two cool dudes indeed.

Pedicure

Mommy and Auntie Carly had a pedicure the other day, and guess who wanted one too.
We didn't exactly have a fancy chair and a foot-soak tub, but Amma did the best she could and Smudge's feet got the treatment.
