Not contrary...but this is how my garden grows.

As you can see, we have a very small front yard, and the grass seemed to be nothing but weeds, so we turned our half of the yard into a flower garden.  

The gardens survived the heat wave better than we did.

The petunias on the deck in the back yard loved the heat too, but they drank gallons of water each day.

Looks pretty, but too hot to sit out there these days. 

This is the way I have been looking at the garden this past week.  From air conditioned comfort only!
