Breather

We actually had some sunshine and fresh snow on the weekend so we went for a walk in the park.
It was a glorious day, and the footing wasn't icy, so we had a safe trek through the woods.
What is AC taking a picture of here?
Someone hung a bag a suet in a tree near the water, and the Chickadees were quite excited about that.  They posed for lots of pictures, and then followed us all the way along on our walk.  Next time we will bring a treat for them and maybe get a picture or two of them eating out of our hands like they did at Riverwood.

JJ's BD Party - Phase 3

Because the bowling party was held on the weekend before JJ's actual birthday, we had a small family celebration on the actual day.
The celebrations started off with a trip to Tim's for lunch.  Buppa and JJ do love lunch at Tim's
Then it was off to the $$Store for a treat.  JJ chose this pirate set.
At dinner time, we all went to the kid's place for JJ's favorite meal - chicken strips and fries.
Of course we had cake and ice cream too.
We still had half a Batman cake to dig into.
After dinner JJ opened gifts from the family.
Everything old is new again.  Yes, Care Bears are making a come back, and JJ loves them.
We gave him Harmony Care Bear, and these additions to his train set.  These cars are hand made by our neighbour, and a work of art. They are fun to play with now, but will be a treasure to keep for years to come.
Super heroes are high on JJ's list these days, but he does love his Care Bear.
After all the festivities it was time to get ready for bed.  Buppa read the kids a story or two.  Danica got to choose one, then it was JJ's turn to pick a book.
While Buppa was reading the bedtime story, Mommy and Daddy were busy putting JJ's gift from them together.
It was a Spiderman tent that goes over JJ's bed.  Care Bears and Spiderman, what could be better?

JJ's BD Party - Phase 2

After the fun at the bowling lanes, we all went back to the kid's place for hot dogs, birthday cake and presents.
JJ was very pleased with his Batman Cake.
After we all munched on hotdogs, we enjoyed cake and ice cream
Then it was time to open presents.  JJ is quite enthralled with Star Wars these days, so this light sabre was a big hit.
I think he liked the shirt and toy from Grandmama too.
Buppa and Asha relax and watch the gift opening from a quiet corner.
After the gifts are open, Danica and Bea work on a craft
Birthday hugs were shared all around.

JJ's 4th BD Party - phase 1

Pictures have finally  been moved from camera to computer, so let me try to catch up on the party festivities from last week.  Better late than never huh?
Danica was very excited about the party at the Bowling lanes in town.
Here is the BD boy, but I don't think he knows quite what to make of it all.
Before the rest of the party arrives Daddy, gives both kids instructions on where to stand and how to throw the ball.
They each had their own style, and JJ even had quite a good score at the end of the day.
I on the other hand, didn't need help on where to stand, or how to hold the ball, I needed help on bending my knees and not falling over when I did.  What a hoot.
Danica had no trouble bending the knees...
...and getting into the swing of how to move her arms in order to help the ball move over once you let it go.
Boys will be boys.
Danica took over the score keeping chores while Buppa had his turn in the lane.  Daddy kept a close eye on her though.
JJ got into the swing of things and had a blast.
It was a fun day, but Buppa and I discovered muscles we didn't know we had in our legs.  We both creaked and squeaked when we went up and down stairs for the next few days.

Busy Week

Seems like it has been a very busy week, and all of my pics are either still in the camera or waiting to be shipped over from one computer to the other.    This is the last picture I have in my "waiting to be posted" file, and it is already a few days old.  Sheesh, where does the time go?

Tinker Bell, had to pack most of her costume in her school bag, in order to trek it to school.  After posing for the full costume pics, she had time for a story before catching the bus.
We are being treated to a snow-day today, so no buses are running.  Danica however loves to go to school, so she is being dropped off at school this morning, and we will pick her up at the end of the school day.  JJ is at daycare, so we have a free day to catch up on everything that we had to let slide this week.  A good book is calling my name though, so I might not get much done.  Seems like a perfect day to curl up under a fluffy blanket and read.

Hope you have a snug and warm kind of day too.

Tinker Bell

At the last minute, Mommy discovered that Danica had to go to school dressed as her favorite story book character.  Yikes, what costume, related to a book she liked, could be thrown together at the last minute?  Mommy did a great job coming up with this costume. We didn't have any fairy dust, but a magic wand did the trick.

PD day with JJ

Of course we still had JJ here when Danica was here for her PD day, and we had to keep him busy too.  While sister was having her lesson on the solar system, JJ went to the other room, and enjoyed some time playing on his DS.

I often resort to my "Mary Poppins" bag of tricks when both kids are here for the day.  The book in the picture below is an old favorite that belonged to Mommy, when she was the kid's age.  Sheesh, where has the time gone?
This is a step by step drawing book using, circles, squiggles and dots to make all sorts of animals and bugs. Danica made a tadpole and a spider.

JJ made a good spider, tadpole and caterpillar.

PD day with Danica

Schools were closed today so teachers could go on a PD day. That meant that we had Danica at our house ALL day.  She is a busy busy bee, and it is all we can do to keep up with her when she is here all day.  We have to tighten our running shoes and hit the ground running as soon as she walks through the door in the mornings.

She loves to do "school work" even when she isn't at school, so Buppa keeps lots of projects ready for her.  She was asking about the solar system last week, so this morning she was given work sheets about just that.
Buppa had a work sheet ready for her, and explained the names of the planets and the relative size of each.
Danica then set to colouring each planet.
I think Buppa and Danica enjoyed the lesson.
Later in the morning she watched a video of life on the Space Station
It  was almost half and hour long, but she sat enthralled through the whole thing.
Now she wants to be an astronaut and go into space...and she just might!
