Kid Cuppa

Erik over at The Electronic Firefly decided to have a Fun Monday and get some bloggers to post kid pictures of themselves for us all to enjoy. Fun indeed. Be sure to check out his blog and get the list of all the others participating. I am glad AC invited me along for the ride too.

My mom smocked this dress for me 58 years ago, and 32 years ago she smocked one just like it for Butterfly. She loved to sew and was so talented with needle and thread.

On the Steps

Here I am with my best friend Sheila. My mom also made these matching cowgirls outfits for us. Cute huh? My mom and Sheila's mom were best friends, and Sheila and I carried on the family tradition. I am only a month older than Sheila, but oh so much taller. I remember always feeling like a giant beside her.

Girlfriend Cowpokes

We lost touch for years, but got together for a tea party in 2005 and I blogged about it here and posted some pictures. It was so nice to get together with her again and catch up on old times.

The first photo looks like it could be part of a photography exhibit. I love the perspective!

How lucky you were to have a mother who sews! The first photo is so artistic, your expression seems to tell a story (hurry up and take the picture! :) ). LOVE the cowgirl shot! The outfit, the friendship, your grins and hand-holding...VERY sweet on all accounts.

Your mother is a very clever needlewoman. I used to make some of my daughter's clothes and all their costumes for dancing displays, but smocking was something I never really mastered effectively.

My mom sewed too - beautifully.

Those are lovely. I posted some pictures way back in late 2005 or early 2006. I'll have to see if I can find them.

It's so nice to hear that people still stay in touch with childhood friends... you two looked like 2 peas in a pod. :O) great pictures!

Too cute - you and Sheila even had matching socks!!! Your mom was a very good seamstress.

Don't tell anyone (don't want to upset the other bloggers), but I think the first photo is the best one I've seen so far.

Hey its time you went to the new Blogger. It's much better, although I should talk, I don't even use blogger;)

How cute is that!? Darling pictures - a very precious story. I love the hand-holding. The friendships of childhood are so simple - so honest.

Cuppa, this is so good. I remember those silly cowgirl outfits! You two were quite a cute pair! I also enjoyed reading about your tea party. Staying in touch with your best friends is a true gift.

Cuppa - Have you noticed the 'anonymous' problem? Mine is the last anonymous comment. Guess I'll have to remember to sign in :0)

Cathy - I have noticed the anonymous problem and don't know what the heck is going on. I am glad your name is back though.
This is very strange. Hope it sorts itself out soon.
