Girls afternoon out

AC and I have been on holiday for the past couple of weeks, and and form of schedule seems to have flown out the window.  Yahoo! It has been quite glorious really, to relax and enjoy a stay-cation.  Sleeping in; breakfasts and lunches with friends; gardening; beading; reading; picnics in the park...and time just staring into space or watching a mindless show on TV.

On Saturday I had a date with my two favorite girls, and after we had lunch, we shopped until I almost dropped.  Danica still had plenty of energy at the end of the afternoon, but Mommy and Amma were DONE!
Someone was very pleased to be invited along for the luncheon and shopping date.
She looked so grown-up sauntering along in front of us.
Lemonade, chocolate milk and apple juice were on the menu, but seeing as we were at a Tearoom, Danica decided to try iced tea.  She sipped it like a Lady, and it was a pleasure to have her along for the date.
What a little ray of sunshine.
After lunch, we went into the gift shop adjoining the tea room.  I looked up from my shopping at one point to see Dani sitting on the floor happily counting her money to see if she had enough change to buy a little mirror for her purse.
She did, and was pleased with her purchase.
Next was a visit to the bookstore.  She settled into the comfy chair in the store, and closely examined this particular book.
She looked at a lot of books, but we decided not to buy anything, as the library had plenty of books she could borrow.  Smart girl!
We walked along Main Street, and did lots of window shopping.  We also stopped along the way to sit a while with a statue of James Naismith - the founder of basketball.   Danica thought she might like to sit on his shoulder, but couldn't quite manage it in a dress...
...so she settled for sitting on his lap...
...and giving him a hug.
It was a fun girls afternoon out.  I look forward to many more.

Summer Fun

We have been busy with the kidlets for the past couple of weeks, and I am now in recovery mode.  Here are some assorted pictures from the two weeks of fun.
We started each day with swimming lessons.  The kids really progressed this year, and we enjoyed watching them go through their paces.  After swimming class each day, we packed a picnic lunch and hit the road to go on an adventure.
Here we are in Almonte.   Time for a rest, after  a walk along the water....
Putting on a show for us in the gazebo...
...dancing in the gazebo...
...and climbing a tree in the park... JJ doesn't look too comfy and needed a hand down soon after we took this pic.
Buppa to the rescue.

We spent time at the library, and JJ was more than happy to sit quietly with Buppa and read a book.  Danica on the other hand.......
We enjoyed a sunny afternoon at the Mill of Kintail.  Danica spent a lot of time looking for moss and other interesting things in the water.

JJ joined in the fun, and when it was time to go home, they were both soaked from head to toe!
While we were there, a summer day-camp class joined us for fun in the water.
We even stopped in at the local farmer's supply store to  say hello to the baby chicks that were awaiting pick-up.
It was a busy but fun two weeks. Time to rest up now, and get ready for the next tour of duty.

Afternoon at the beach

Amma and Buppa's summer camp is in full swing, and we are keeping busy, busy, busy.  Yesterday we had fun at the Riverside Water Park in town.  First of all the kids went swimming in the river, and Buppa kept a closse eye on them, while I sat in the shade, sipped my coffee and took some pictures.
Buppa in the middle of the action while JJ splashed in the river.
Danica met a friend from school there, so she was off doing her own thing with her friends.
Sand and water....what a fun combination.
Buppa soon grabbed his chair, and found a more comfy spot to sit and keep his eye on the kids.  I stayed in the shade, but kept a watchful eye too.
After getting their fill of swimming in the river, the kids moved up to the water pad, and had a blast there.  It was hard timing when the buckets would fill with water, and eventually dump over, but JJ was getting better and better at it.
Here we see both kids getting dumped on.  What fun!

Celtfest in Almonte 2014

The Tuckers came for a visit this past weekend to attend Celtfest with us, and we had a grand and glorious time.

Brian wanted to be super protected from the sun.  I think he looks cute in Heather's and my hats!

The sister glamor queens wearing their own hats.

Everyone had their cameras at the ready.
Great music by the American Rogues.
And lots of toe tapping fun with Le Vent du Nord.
