Autumn Colour Road Trips with the Tuckers - 2015 part II

Before we left home for this trip AC read an article about Al Capone`s cabin hideout in Quadeville.  We didn`t have to venture too far off our route to check it out, but by the time we got there, it was late in the day, and we still had miles to go before getting to Bancroft to shop and then travelling the last leg of the journey to the farm before dark.   So, we just drove through Quadeville, and decided to go back there another day to check it out when we had more daylight hours stretching out in front of us.

On our road-trip with the Tuckers, we did just that.  It was early afternoon when we arrived, and we spotted this snack truck in the middle of town, so we stopped there for a wee bite before going in search of Al`s cabin.
The day was sunny but cool, and we enjoyed sauntering around in the sunshine while we waiting for our fries....which were delicious by the way.
The guys found lots of old buildings to take pictures of

I decided to venture into this old gas station/general store to ask about the cabin.
I thought the sales clerk might think I was crazy for asking, but no, Al was quite the celebrity in this little town, and she pointed me to this big display in one corner by the front door.   She said the cabin was now boarded up as the floor boards were rotting,  so it wasn't safe to go inside, but we could still wander around outside.
She and another customer gave us instructions on how to find it, so we set off on our search.  They told us to go 2.3 K's down the road, and there we would find a little spot for us to pull off and park the van, and we could then walk  down a private road to the cabin.  Well, we searched high and low, but couldn't find the darned thing.  We did find one road that looked promising, but it had a big no trespassing sign posted on it, and we didn't know what we would find around the bend, so we obeyed the sign and turned around.  Oh well, it was fun to try.  Maybe next time we are there, we will ignore the sign and travel a bit further along that private road.
