Early Morning Coffee

Because of the time change we were up much early than the girls on our first morning there. We didn't want to wake them up by fussing in the kitchen grinding coffee beans to make coffee, so we went for an early morning walk in search of a steaming cup of the brew. As we walked along the beach we noticed this rather ragged looking Inukshuk. It wasn't until we got closer that we could tell it was wearing a "seabird coat". I guess it was cold in the misty morning air so asked the birds to help out.
Lots of big ships were anchored in the Bay waiting to pass through the channel to the north to reach the docks.
We passed lots of early morning joggers, but there was only one lone soul on the beach. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The treed area you see to the left of the white apartment buildings in this pic is Stanley Park. Yes, just a hop, skip and a jump from the girl's apt, and we were in Stanly Park.
We sat on a bench under a tree in English Bay to sip our morning coffee and drink in the view. As we did, a huge heron swooped in and perched above our heads.
Quite the beauty huh?
We walked back along the seawall to the girl's apt and had to stop for another pic of the Inukshuk wearing it's bird coat.
You can't see it clearly in these pics, but I am holding up a cup of Tim Horton's coffee. Yes, a Tim's is now right around the corner for Starbucks. Oh joy! I do prefer Tim's coffee to Starbucks.
When we got back to the apt we found the girls up and ready to face the day.

Hi Cuppa, I feel like I know you. I have been following A/C for a while now, I think I met him on Barry's site. Of course he talks about you all the time. I wish I had to opt to come to the seashore more often, but I think my traveling days are over. Just too physically hard on me. I live in the Central Eastern part of US and nothing but lakes, well the Ohio River, but nothing like a sea coast. Enjoyed your picture story immensely. I guess this is the first time I had an idea of your blog title, to be able to find it. Blessings

Hi Cuppa,
AC never said that you had a blog. And I enjoyed it very much! I am going back to read more. I also enjoyed your photos especially the Inukshuk. That was really nice.
Tim Horton's must be a regional coffee. I've heard other Canadians talk about it. Must be pretty good!
Love Di

Queenmmm- How nice to have you stop by for a chat. Come again soon.

Bernie - MMmm, Tim's - it's the BEST!Glad you are enjoying the pics. I have LOTS more to come. YIkes!

Kathy - So happy you are back in blogdom and staying in touch.

Diana - Glad you dropped by for a cuppa tea and a visit. It's always nice to meet someone new in blogdom.

I am drawn to the Inukshuk too. After our first trip out west AC gave me a soapstone carving of one and I love it. I also have a small one in the car. It does give direction after all, so I thought it would be appropriate for the car! We enjoyed many cups of coffee and sunsets at the foot of the one at English Bay during our trip.

My blog is mostly pictures of our comings and goings to keep family and friends scattered here and there around the globe updated. It makes me happy when others want to join in the fun too, so I am glad you will be along for the ride from time to time. Enjoy!
