It was very special for us to be with D3 and her family for Rosh Hashanah this year. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and wonderful family time celebrating this holiday with them. Elaine was a perfect hostess for the event.
D3 was very happy that we were there to share this time with them.
D2 heped out in the kitchen...
While AC and I relaxed...
and enjoyed the view of Sunset Beach from the dining room window.
D3 helped out in the kitchen too...
and D2 soon joined her there to lend a hand.
There are many beautiful traditions included in this holiday. Here we see Elaine pouring wine for a toast before dinner.
She was happy to explain the meaning of the challah bread and the eating of apples and honey. If I remember correctly they represent wishes for a full and sweet new year.
Here we see D3 holding the "shofar", a horn made from a ram's horn. The shofar is used in the synagogue services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
D2 and D3 both tried to blow the shofar, and discovered it was not as easy as it looked to get a sound out of it.
After a few tries..
they both managed to sound it loud and clear.

I love to hear about family get togethers and hear of different traditions. That is one of my reasons for blogging. I firmly believe families are going to be the salvation of our world. That is something that I pray for everyday.
Strength and peace through families. Blood families and spiritual families.
