Sensitive Soul...and a moment to remember.

A sombre moment, of remembering loved ones not on this earth anymore, was called for amidst all the fun on Sarah's wedding day.  When we got to our assigned table and waited for the program to begin, we noticed this wedding favor at each place.
Danica asked about the names on the leaf attached to this little nest, and we tried to explain to her who the people were, and why they weren't at the wedding,
She was very sad that they weren't here.  She especially missed her cousin Elisabeth
She was more than a little upset and it took her a long time to enter into the joy of the day again.   We explained as best we could that we should honour their memory, and enjoy the day for them.   She lead the whole table in a time of remembrance and thinking of loved ones passed away.  What a special moment for all of us.  Thank you Danica.
I have put a few links here for those of you who would like to know more about Maria, Seana and Elisabeth.

Maria
Mike's mom, passed away after a long battle with cancer in June 2012
 Seana
Sarah's cousin, passed away after a long battle with cancer in May 2012
 Elisabeth
Sarah's little sister, passed away suddenly from a rogue virus that attacked her heart in March 1993. She was only 5 years old.
This was long before we had digital cameras and lots of pictures to choose from, or blog posts to link to, so I have posted a picture below of Sarah and Ben with Elisabeth, from the early 90's.
We remembered you and missed you dear hearts.

Almost a week after we got home from the wedding, Danica was busy at the kitchen table working on this card.  When asked what it was, she informed her mom that it was a card she wanted to send to heaven for Maria, Seana and Elisabeth.

What a tender heart this little one has.

Lorna - we all had a moment like that at the wedding. Danica was deeply touched and it made us all stop to remember loved ones not with us.

Danica is such a loving kid. Her sensitivity and kindness are felt immediately when you're with her. What a sweet thing for her to do.

Maria, Seana and Elisabeth are missed.
