Leaving---

Yes, we are leaving for a holiday in Nova Scotia so I probably won't be posting anything for a week or so. Here are some pics to tide you over until we get home Grandmama.

Hey dad, can I have the keys to the car?

All Aboard...

That's what I heard, and it made me look over at the kids to see what they were doing.
All aboard...! Smudge was playing train and was taking Jboy on a trip across country. I think Jboy was feeling a bit cramped in this particular seat though...
so we see below that he changed his seat, but remained on the train for the whole trip.
Chugga, chugga, chugga chugga, choo choo!

Sweet Pea!

That's what Smudge is these days, Little Miss Sweet Pea. We had to make a trip in to the big city last week, so we took the kids to town with us, then dropped Jboy off at Mommy's work, and took Smudge with us to help us do our errands. She was a big help too. When we finished our "to do" list, we stopped at our favorite restaurant, Swiss Chalet, for dinner. We stood by the door waiting for the waitress to seat us, and when she walked up to us Smudge blurted out "I want some chicken!"
"Well you've come to the right place then" the waitress said and lead us to our table.
Smudge busied herself with the crayons...
but also took time to greet any and every one who passed by our table. She is such a friendly little soul.
Goodness she is growing up fast and becoming quite the little lady.
What a joy she is to take on these outings with us.

Getting into the story.

Smudge has watched this Winnie-the-Pooh video a number of times, but on this particular day, she decided to soar to new heights with Winnie, and of course Jboy had to follow right along. When Winnie grasped onto a balloon while pretending to be a rain cloud so he could steal some honey, Smudge grasped her imaginary balloon and soared right along with the "silly willy nilly old bear". Jboy had to fly high with sister, so they both climbed up on foot stools and watched the video.
Yes...
they watched the whole video standing on these stools.
What a pair!

Afternoon at Amma and Buppa's House

While Smudge was at school the other day Jboy enjoyed an afternoon at Amma and Buppa's house. He had fun climbing the stairs...
so Buppa had to keep a close eye on him and persuade him to stop for a chat half way up the stairs. Jboy enjoyed that too.
After their chat, Jboy and Buppa went out for a walk.
Jboy was a brave little explorer...
but didn't wander too far before turning around and heading back to Buppa.
Then it was time to come in for a snack before setting off to pick Smudge up from school.
How can you tell that Jboy is enjoying trying to feed himself these days.

Bike day at school

Last Friday was Bike Day at school, so we adjusted Smudge's bike helmet...
...added some ribbons to it...
...and her bike, and off she went to school happy as a Lark.
Amma helped her park her bike near the sandbox before class, then it was off to her classroom.
Jboy didn't get to take part in bike day, but he had a fun day with Buppa.

Shoes

This is a very common sight most days - Jboy playing on the mat by the front door, with a pile of shoes. He has a major fascination with any and all shoes.
As you can see in the picture below, he has already taken Amma's shoes off, and has asked sister if he can wear hers. Smudge was more than happy to oblige.
Above we see her doing her best to get them on his feet - even curling her own toes the way she wants Jboy to curl his in order to get the shoe on. But to no avail.
They worked at it for quite a while, but never did get the sandals on.

Earlier in the day he did managed to get a pair of Smudge's shoes on though. Even over his footed sleepers.
He seemed quite proud of himself...
and clomped around in these shoes for quite a while.
Cute huh? I'm not sure what Smudge thinks about the outfit. Maybe she is thinking that pink shoes just don't GO with the orange stripe in Jboy's pj's!

Learning something new

Here we go again. Time for Jboy to learn something new, and he seems more than happy to get right into it.
Can I do it like this Amma?

Well, I think that works just fine don't you?
Could he get any cuter? What a scamp!

Celtfest 2010

We just got home from Celtfest 2010 and are a tad tired from sitting in the open air listening to music until late last night (Saturday) and all day today, (Sunday) but we had a grand and glorious time as usual. Here are a few pictures that I hope capture the mood of the open air concert. It was magical.


Not a speck of rain fell during the event this year. We sat under sunny skies and warm summer breezes the whole weekend.
Below are some pics of the main group The Glengarry Bhoys. All I can say is WOW! They were fabulous and put on one amazing show. High energy, talented musicians that seemed to get as much enjoyment out of performing as we did listening. Kilts were flying, toes were tapping and hands were clapping.

At one point they came right out into the audience and got up-close and personal. Total fun.
They had quite a gathering of little munchkins dancing near the front of the stage. So cute to watch them bounce and skip to each song.
Hopefully Smudge will be old enough to join us for the fun next year. She would love it and would be up dancing with this group for sure.
