Breakfast shenanigans

The kids ate a healthy breakfast and polished off the Weetabix and the Shredded Wheat on the same morning. Goodness knows, we don't want to let fabulous empty boxes go to waste...
so...
a new fashion statement was born.
I think it just might catch on.

Ready to take flight

A friend of Mommy's gave Smudge some butterfly wings and I would say that Smudge loves them.
She looks pretty darned pleased doesn't she? Thanks Carly!

Playtime with Winnie and Waggs

Quite often when we put the music on Smudge will run for Waggs to be her dance partner...
and Jboy runs for Winnie.
After the dancin' comes the relaxin'.

Good morning hugs for Buppa

The pictures say it all. The kids love their morning snuggle time with Bupps!
Bupps likes it too.
Yes, Smudge is in this picture too. The rascal.

Getting into mischief

Things were pretty quiet in the bedroom the other morning so I walked in to see what was going on. Oh oh, Little Impy Doodle was up to no good.
As soon as he saw the flash he had to turn and check me out...
flash me a smile...
Then go back to scoping out the back yard.
A little later the same morning, guess who else was getting into the act.
Impy Doodle's Sister!
They keep me on my toes they do.

Lending a hand.

Smudge was creating a masterpiece the other morning and she asked Jboy to lend a helping hand...
literally! It involved him climbing up on a chair and then onto the table, but he gladly obliged.
Cute huh?

Surprise

Seems like every day last week the first thing Smudge said to us when we got to her house in the mornings, and the last thing she said when we were leaving at night was "Can I come to your house for a sleepover?" We kept promising one soon, but she just wasn't getting that message. She wanted one NOW!

So, last Friday we surprised her, and picked her up at school and told her she was coming to our house for a sleepover, after a trip to the library. She was VERY excited to say the least.

She enjoyed reading with Buppa, and we brought three books home for her bedtime story that night.
She loves reading with Buppa, and then fixing her make-up in the bathroom with Amma.
I managed to get two little clips in her hair for two minutes while she was fussing with creams and lotions...
but they soon came out so I think she is headed for a hair cut this week.

Taking care of Molly the dolly

Molly the Dolly had a sore finger the other day so Amma had to find a bandaid for her, and wrap her up in a blanket. Smudge then took Molly into the bedroom for a rock and some comfort. Jboy had to help Sister so he rocked Piglet while Smudge rocked Molly. Of course Amma had to take a picture.
...and a video.

Then Smudge wanted to take a picture of Amma giving Molly a snuggle. She didn't do a bad job at all.
I am happy to report that Molly is feeling much better after all the attention.

Toast and hats!

Smudge asked for a piece of toast the other morning, but it wouldn't do for Amma to make it for her. She had to "do it herself". So we hunted up the helping stool, and Smudge got the bread herself, put it in the toaster, pushed it down, watched it cook, lifted it out, buttered it, helped Amma cut it then sat at the table munching away feeling very proud of herself.
While we were busy at the kitchen counter Jboy was happily playing in the bedroom. I was just about to go check to see what he was doing when he came out to see us - modeling his latest fashion statement.
Goodness he makes me smile.

Hard at work

After the Elephant march through the jungles of the kitchen, bedrooms and hall, it is time to get down to work. Here we see both kids diligently concentrating on their tasks for the morning.

Jungle Book at our house

The kids love the music from Jungle Book and march around the house with Colonel Hathi and his troops with great vim and vigor. When Mommy saw this elephant costume for Smudge to wear on Halloween, she knew it would be a hit.
But, look what she found in the store the day after Halloween for just $2! Yes, an elephant costume for Jboy too.
So now we have the pleasure of watching two little elephants march around and around and around with Colonel Hathi's troops. Amma and Buppa have even been known to join in the march from time to time too.
Come on now, get up, put on your marching shoes and sing along with me...

Hup two three four
Hup two three four
Keep it up two three four
Company sound off!

Ho, the aim of our patrol
Is a question rather droll
For to march and drill
Over field and hill
Is a military goal!
Is a military goal!

Hup two three four
Dress it up two three four
Hup two three four
Dress it up two three four

By the ranks or single file
Over every jungle mile
Oh we stamp and crush
Through the underbrush
In a military style!
In a military style!

Hup two three four
Keep it up two three four

They didn't do a lot of marching in this video as they were still getting used to their costumes. Jboy thought his trunk was pretty neat, and Smudge was surprised to discover she had a tail on her costume, but after a while they set off on their march. Smudge was stopped in her tracks when her hood came undone but at least you get the idea of the daily elephant march at our house. Now, ready...march!

Style

When it was time to get bundled up and go back home after her sleepover Smudge thought that Buppa's hat added just the right touch of style to her outfit.
She had a wee bit of trouble getting the angle of the hat right...
but soon discovered that a jaunty tilt was just the ticket.
Style indeed!

In concert

The kid's have this microphone set that actually amplifies the voice, and the base has buttons on it that when pressed make the sound of applause, back-up drums, and cymbals. Not only that, but there is a flashing disco ball of coloured lights adding flair to the whole production.
Smudge and Jboy are more than fascinated with it, and give us quite a show I must say.
We just might see this brother and sister act on stage one day. I'll keep you posted.

Guess who's here for a sleepover!

Someone who loves to dash around Amma and Buppa's house...
then stop to read stories from Mommy's old books...
then line up the tea set...
and pour the tea for her and Amma all by herself.

Curlers

I was trying to fix my hair the other morning and Little Miss Helpful had to tend to her hair too. Here she is running to show Buppa her pretty hair.
She really doesn't need curlers and neither does her brother. I wonder if his curls will come back once his hair is cut?

Over 200 by 7pm

Yes, I had over 200 treats and they were all gone by 7:03pm! Sheesh! We had hoards of kids and it was sooooo cold I thought we might not have many munchkins come to our door at all. Boy was I surprised.

I sat out on the porch and was all bundled up in sweaters and woolies, had a heating pad on the chair, and a hot cup of coffee laced with Bailey's in my hand and I was till cold when it was time to close up shop. I started handing out treats at 5:30, and the street was still bustling with kids when my treat bowl was empty at 7.

AC went over to the kid's place to take a few pics kids while I manned the fort here at home. We usually give the kids a book instead of candy on most occasions that call for a small treat. Little Elephant Smudge is looking through her new book with Daddy while she waits for brother to get his duds on.
Jboy is in no hurry to get his Walrus suit on and takes his time looking at his new book.
Oh, Buppa actually got Smudge to smile for a picture. What a treat to see such a cute little elephant.
Jboy is not quite sure what he thinks of his outfit.
Smudge is raring to go, but Jboy looks dubious.
Buppa gave out treats at the kid's house while Mommy and Daddy took the "animals" around their neighbourhood.
A good time was had by all I am sure.
